The John Report: WWE WrestleMania 40 Review
It’s WWE WrestleMania 40 featuring Cody Rhodes against Roman Reigns in the Sunday main event while The Rock was in tag team action as well.
I was at WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia on Saturday and Sunday. I had a great time at the event on both nights. As I mentioned in my WrestleMania Saturday recap, it was my fifth WrestleMania in person and the first time where I got to sit in a suite. My good friend Pete and I were in a Wrestletours suite with a lot of great wrestling fans from the UK who travelled a long way to be at the show. The guys from Progress Wrestling run Wrestletours and I highly recommend it for anybody making the WrestleMania trip whether you’re overseas or anywhere else. They’ll take care of you. I’ll add also that it wasn’t free. I won’t say how much it cost me, but I think it was worth it. Could I get a media pass for the event? Probably. But I like sitting back with my friends and having beers rather than considering it work. I can afford it, so I might as well have as much fun as possible. That’s what I did. Yes, writing about pro wrestling is work for me, but if I treat it like a job then maybe I’ll love it less than I do right now. There were about 20-25 people in the suite, including some wrestlers who I won’t name, and it was cool meeting so many of them. Several WWE stars were in suites beside us too, so when walking the hallways you could find yourself meeting some random WWE people. I saw a few of them.

To sum it up, I had a great time at WrestleMania as well as other events like Wrestlecon, WWE World and I explored Philadelphia a lot. I thought that maybe this would be my last WrestleMania trip after doing it five times. However, maybe I’ll do it next year no matter where it is because it’s an enjoyable experience for me. We’ll see how it goes.
Before writing this review, I didn’t watch any of the TV broadcast. I didn’t have time to watch it before this. I’m here to review that now on Tuesday. For some of the Saturday matches, I am keeping in what I wrote in my quick review on Sunday because I don’t have more to add to it. Let’s get to it.
WrestleMania 40 Saturday – April 6, 2024
I liked the new “Then, Now, Forever, Together” opening video montage voiced by Triple H. They took out the catchphrases of the top stars, but they appear in the video.
They showed arrivals from before the show. The arrivals were shown of Cody Rhodes, World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins, Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and “The Final Boss” The Rock.
There was an opening video package voiced by Meek Mill hyping up the big matches on WrestleMania Saturday.
The show began with a Grammy Award singer Coco Jones singing the Star Spangled Banner aka US National Anthem.
