Everybody knows about the Ryan Garcia story and how the boxer destroyed his career and reputation in the span of two months. Many are claiming it was a bender after the fight against Devin Haney but there are other aspects of this “bender” that need to be explored. For now, Ryan Garcia seemingly decided to get some help and that’s some good news about his case for a change. The young boxer addressed his public comments about the mother of his children, whom he slandered in one of his many rants online. to his credit, this may be the first from a number of apology videos that actually seem genuine. Now it seems like Ryan is clean and sober. We all hope he can get back on his feet so he can continue his career, the man is talented.

In this video apology, Ryan Garcia said sorry to everybody he has hurt over the last two months. As he sat by the side of a building and under a massive palm tree, Ryan Garcia addressed his actions and apologized. He also confirmed he is checking himself into rehab for the next two months. “I apologize for my actions. My journey now will be to conquer my inner demons. I have been carrying anxiety and some mental health issues and didn’t realize the impact until it exploded. I am stepping back to follow a treatment plan made by doctors and till then, I have withdrawn from my bout. Just know I’m getting help. Love you all

Although clearly the addiction issue needs to be erradicated from Ryan Garcia in order to continue his career, there is a deeper problem here that almost nobody mentions. Ryan Garciahas been getting punched in the face since he was 7 years old. Whether you like it or not, that type of constant trauma to the head can end in unpredictable personalities as it has been shown by NFL CTE patients thanks to Dr. Bennet Omalu’s research. The same goes with boxing or other combat sports. Don’t expect a brain constantly struck from an early age won’t have any negative effects on the subject. Especially if said subject consumes any type of mind-altering substance. Hopefully doctors can see this too, surely some already have.
