Prince Harry set to stay in hotel after Windsor Castle request was rejected by Royal Family
Prince Harry is set to stay in a hotel room upon his return to the UK.
The Duke of Sussex will fly to London next week to give a reading at St Paul’s Cathedral on May 8 to mark the Invictus Games’ tenth anniversary.
Harry founded the Invictus Games in 2014 when he was still a working member of the Royal Family.
No senior member of the Royal Family is expected to attend the event next Wednesday
Meghan Markle will also be absent from the event as the Duchess of Sussex remains in the US ahead of the couple’s trip to Nigeria later in May.
The Duchess of Sussex has not visited the UK since September 2022 following Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.
Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are expected to stay in the US with their mother during the duke’s trip to London.
Harry and Meghan no longer have a base in the UK after King Charles evicted the couple from Frogmore Cottage in the summer of 2023
The Sussexes had barely used the royal residence since they stepped down as working members of the Royal Family and moved to the US in 2020 but would stay there when travelling to the UK.
However, Harry has been staying in hotel rooms in London during his most recent trips to the UK.
Prince Harry’s most recent trip to the UK came in February 2024 after Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles had been diagnosed with a form of cancer.
The Duke of Sussex did not stay with the Royal Family.
It comes after Harry’s request to stay in a room at Windsor Castle was rejected in September 2023 with the Royal Family citing a lack of notice as the reason for the denial.
The King’s youngest son has not stayed at a royal residence since and is expected to once again opt to stay at a hotel during his visit to the UK next week.
Harry’s stay in the UK is expected to be short as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will undertake an unofficial royal tour in Nigeria just days after the Invictus event in London.
