Often choosing to support hometown or former teams of their own, investing into sports organisations is pretty common practice amongst the wildly rich and famous. That’s a nod to the part owner of the Tractor Boys, local lad Ed Sheeran, who has sponsored the club for three years now. The musician bought a stake in the team recently, and has been spotted on the sidelines right the way through. You love to see a local boy giving back to his boyhood club.
Image credit: Getty Images Kevin Durant and Paris Saint Germain Kevin Durant has become the latest American sports star to get involved financially in European football. After winning gold in Paris, just a few weeks after, it can be revealed that Durant—through his investment firm Boardroom—has become involved with Paris Saint Germain. This is where it gets a little hazy, according to The Athletic, Boardroom’s investment purchased shares in PSG through an independent financial set-up established by Arctos Sports Partners, which has invested in PSG. Add that to his part ownership of MLS side Philadelphia Union, which he purchased in 2020, and the Gotham National Women’s Soccer League franchise, and you’ll see Durant’s portfolio is one to watch
