Meghan Markle urged to follow in Gwyneth Paltrow’s footsteps and flog bizarre products

Meghan Markle has been urged to follow in Gwyneth Paltrow’s footsteps with her new brand American Riviera Orchard.

Earlier this month, the Duchess of Sussex, 42, surprised fans when a mysterious Instagram account appeared online. American Riviera Orchard appeared on the photo-sharing platform with a nine-photo grid debuting the logo of the pending brand, a clickable link to a swish new website, and a short promotional clip.

Since the Instagram account emerged, Meghan Markle’s brand – which is yet to be fully unveiled – has drawn comparisons to several high-end luxury brands in the US. And one of those is Gwyneth Paltrow’s brand Goop.

Goop is a wellness and lifestyle brand and company founded by the American actress, Gwyneth. It was launched in September 2008 as an email newsletter, but fast became a brand that sold quirky goods such as the iconic This Smells Like My Vagina candle and the jade and rose quartz vagina eggs.

And now Meghan is being urged to flog controversial and unique items in order to ensure her brand is a big success. Writing for her column in the Guardian, Arwa Mahdwi said: “I suggest Meghan pull a Paltrow and ensure the products she sells are just a little bit out-there.

“I’m not sure Goop would have been quite so successful had it not been for headline-generating offerings such as vampire repellent and vagina candles,” she added.

Arwa went on: “Paltrow has the vagina market covered, but considering Harry’s propensity for talking about his nether regions, Meghan could always launch cream for frostbitten todgers,” referencing a quote in Harry’s book Spare about his “frostbitten penis”.

This comes after a public relations guru weighed in on Meghan’s pending brand. Lynn Carratt from Press Box PR exclusively told The Mirror that she reckons the Duchess is “trying to emulate” Goop’s success.
