While many people questioned his in-ring ability throughout his career, Cena proved time and time again that he could have great matches with just about anyone. Even a limited wrestler like The Great Khali had some of his best matches against Cena.
From his beginning in the Ruthless Aggression Era all the way to the PG Era, ‘Big Match John’ worked with pretty much all the top names WWE had to offer during those years. John Cena made his WWE debut on SmackDown in 2002, the beginning of the Ruthless Aggression Era. After a great two-year run as the Doctor of Thuganomics, Cena established himself as a main eventer when he won the WWE Championship for the first time in 2005, becoming the face of the company throughout the next decade. In 2024, after a handful of years as a part-timer, Big Match John announced he’ll retire from in-ring competition in the end of 2025.
