WWE may have just thrown a curveball at fans expecting a reunion between Jey Uso, Roman Reigns, and Jimmy Uso.
During a match this week in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, WWE cameras caught Jey Uso paying homage to The Rock as Uso dropped a YEET version of The People’s Elbow on Bron Breakker.
Now, taking a page from The Rock’s playbook isn’t unusual for the Intercontinental Champion. Part of Uso’s move set includes a punch combination that ends with him spitting into the palm of his hand before delivering a final strike, à la The Final Boss. But it’s the timing of Uso’s tribute to The People’s Champ that’s curious.
Two weeks ago, The Rock returned to WWE at Bad Blood, delivering an ominous message to Reigns, Jimmy Uso, and Cody Rhodes. Since then, Jimmy has tried convincing Reigns that they need help fighting Solo Sikoa and his Bloodline. After Jimmy hinted that he was thinking about turning to Jey for help, Reigns shot that idea down, saying, “No YEET.” Then, this past Monday on Raw, Jimmy tried talking to Jey, who wasn’t having it, telling Jimmy, “Get out of my face, man!”
Between The Rock’s return, which saw Solo Sikoa saying it’s part of the plan, and Jey’s actions on Raw and in Newcastle, it’s possible that the reunion most fans are hoping for doesn’t go as they’d like. It’s also worth noting that earlier this year at Backlash, Sikoa and The Bloodline had a brief staredown with Jey before leaving him in peace.
As Survivor Series: WarGames nears, wrestling’s top storyline continues to add layers of intrigue, raising the question: Will Jey Uso be the final nail in the Bloodline’s coffin, or will he push the Roman Empire further into ruin?
