Harry and Meghan finding out about Kate’s cancer at same time as everyone else ’emblematic of their status’
Royal Commentator Lee Cohen has criticised Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s “status”, after the royal couple sent their well wishes to Princess Kate.
The Princess of Wales announced last week that she has been diagnosed with cancer, and has begun “preventative treatment” following her abdominal surgery in January
Lee Cohen told GBN America that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex found out about Princess Kate’s diagnosis at the same time as the public is “emblematic of their status” within the Royal Family.
Following the Princess’s emotional video confirming the news, Harry and Meghan sent wishes of “health and healing” for Kate and the family.
A spokesperson for the Sussexes said Harry and Meghan “hope they are able to do so privately and in peace”.
Reacting to the statement, Lee Cohen told GBN America that the couple “cannot be trusted” by the Royal Family, especially with such personal news as the King and Princess having cancer at the same time.
Cohen told host Nana Akua: “The feeling in the royal household and the Royal Family is that they can’t be trusted, as we know they can’t be trusted.
“What a horrible time to even give them the possibility of doing any harm when everyone is just heartsick over both the King and the Princess’s news.”
Cohen noted that the public, both in the US and across the world is “hopeful that both will recover”
Criticising Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s statement in reaction to Princess Kate, host Nana said it was “interesting” for them to offer health and healing, and highlighted the couple’s “dig” at their need for “privacy”.
Nana explained: “The bit about giving them the privacy that they deserve, I just thought, I could almost hear Meghan saying ‘unlike the privacy you gave us’ sort of thing.”
Cohen agreed, responding: “Absolutely – underlines the difference between celebrity and public servant.
“Truly admired public servants as the working royals are, versus Meghan and Harry, they have become nothing but celebrity influencers.”
Revealing the dwindling lack of support for Prince Harry and Meghan in America, Cohen revealed that US fans “cannot make the distinction” between the Sussexes and US celebrities.
Nana was in agreement with Cohen, adding: “They had everything. It’s almost as though they didn’t see that the shiny, gold glistening thing would eventually become distorted, and it actually wouldn’t survive.
“Whereas the longevity of the monarchy, which is what they are both part of, is something that is to be cherished and looked after and enjoyed and respected
