Yet, young and gritty in her own way, Bethune loves the new investor who arrived at the Spirit. Magic Johnson has raised the team’s spirits.

It’s a big win for the league as Magic joins Kevin Durant, Patrick Mahomes, and other stars to invest in the NWSL. “Um, I mean, we just, Magic just joined us, and I think that’s great. Someone who’s done that within another sport, also being a man coming to us. So I feel like the more people look at women’s sports, invest, see how important we are, and how much we can make a difference. I think things can progress to elevate,” said Bethune, in an exclusive interview with EssentiallySports.
