Camilla’s nod to Kate Middleton as she steps out after security breach – as King’s seen for first time
Both King Charles and Queen Camilla have broken cover – just hours after claims emerged staff at a London hospital attempted to access the private medical records of the Princess of Wales.
The monarch, who is receiving treatment for cancer, waved to well-wishers as he was driven from his London home Clarence House, while Camilla arrived on the Isle of Man this lunchtime, landing at Ronaldsway Airport and heading to Douglas, where she received a rapturous welcome before carrying out engagements on a solo visit. She wrapped up from the cold in a navy coat, which was adorned with a blue sapphire and diamond brooch, which looks very similar in appearance to Kate’s engagement ring.
The piece is actually called the Prince Albert brooch, who gave it to Queen Victoria and has been worn by several other royals since. While on the island, Camilla will deliver a speech on behalf of her husband before presenting the Letters Patent conferring city status on the capital Douglas, which was awarded the status as part of the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.
The Queen is making her trip to the Isle of Man alone as Charles continues his treatment, which means he is currently not carrying out public-facing duties. Her visit comes just hours after the Mirror exclusively revealed the world renowned hospital where Kate was treated has launched an investigation over claims staff attempted to access her private medical records.
Bosses have launched a probe into the claims Kate’s confidentiality was breached while she was a patient in The London Clinic in January. At least one member of staff was said to have been caught trying to access the 42-year-old’s notes. The allegations have sent shock waves through the hospital in Marylebone, Central London, which has a reputation for discreetly treating of the royal family, former presidents, PMs and celebrities.
In fact, King Charles was also treated at the hospital in January for an enlarged prostate at the same time when Kate was recovering there following her own procedure. Today, The London Clinic’s chief executive, Al Russell, said in a statement: “Everyone at the London Clinic is acutely aware of our individual, professional, ethical and legal duties with regards to patient confidentiality.
