Adele reveals story behind infamous NBA meme and responds to lip filler rumors

Adele has finally addressed the truth behind an infamous meme of her at an NBA game that went viral on social media after taking aim at the paparazzi.

The British singer has earned a reputation for complaining about her fame on the global stage and her encounter with photographers at an NBA game may just prove her right.

During her ‘Weekends with Adele’ residency concert in Las Vegas Saturday night, the 16-time Grammy winner opened up about the viral image where she is pictured looking miserable at the NBA All-Star game in February 2022.

Adele can be seen wearing a glum expression on her face, despite having some of the best seats in basketball with her husband Rich Paul. But now, the ‘Hello’ star has spoken the truth about the incident.

“I know it sounds crazy, but I really don’t like being famous, right?” she explained in a fan-posted TikTok video. “So obviously, I know I’m sitting courtside at a basketball game, whatever. But Rich was working the room and talking to other players and people.

“I was fine. I didn’t mind. I was just there on my own, looking for Michael Jordan, to be honest with you. So, the people with the camera came over and asked me twice. They were like, ‘Do you mind if we film you? Can we put you on the screen?'”

That’s where things started to go wrong, as Adele pleaded with the cameramen to refrain from taking snaps of her – and they still refused to abide by her wishes.

“I said, ‘Please don’t. I just canceled [my] Las Vegas [residency]. I really don’t wanna be [on camera].’ They came back and they filmed me,” she added. “The reason I looked like a different person was because I was sulking. Because I was like, ‘These motherf*****s have come back and are filming me against my will.'”

The 35-year-old also responded to claims that she had lip filler injections, with some rumors that she had the procedure done when she had lost weight
“I have naturally big lips…I don’t need filler,” she explained.

“I was just very annoyed because I asked not to be filmed. But I guess I was asking for it by going.”
