Caitlin Clark Revealed to Be Patrick Mahomes’ Fan as Peter Schrager Shares Brett Veach Text Chain Details
Iowa sensation Caitlin Clark is a big fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and their star quarterback Patrick Mahomes. One such anecdote about her likeliness had previously made it to The Herd with Colin Cowherd, where they talked about her penchant for the Kansas team. NFL reporter Peter Schrager, on this note, shared the first time he crossed paths with Clark.
It was in 2022 when Schrager was at the NFL Combine and coincidentally, Iowa’s Women’s basketball team was staying at the same hotel. The Women’s Big 10 Tournament and the Combine were scheduled around the same time, and this was where the Sports Information Director of the Iowa team introduced the two. “You know our star player Caitlin, she’s a die-hard Chiefs fan, she loves Mahomes,” recalled Schrager further mentioning that the SID put her on a text chain with Clark.
The reporter wished her luck and later, added her to a text chain with Brett Veach, the GM of the Kansas City Chiefs. “I eventually put her on a text chain with Brett Veach the general manager of the Chiefs. We’re on a text chain, the three of us before every one of these Iowa games. Veach and I are texting Caitlin Clark, who’s now the biggest sports star in the world, good luck today and she’s like, THANKS GUYS!”
Caitlin Clark’s love for Patrick Mahomes and the KC Chiefs is not one-sided. The Chiefs superstar Mahomes is known to reciprocate the same feeling.
No love lost between Patrick Mahomes and Caitlin Clark
It was in February this year when the Chiefs were preparing for the Super Bowl and the Iowa team was preparing to take on Nebraska. At that point, Clark was well on her way to break Kelsey Plum’s record of 3,527 points (2013-2017.) The Super Bowl and the Iowa game coincided on a Sunday, and so Mahomes couldn’t watch it. But he, nevertheless, had faith in the Iowa Guard.
You can tell she loves the game. She loves playing at Iowa. … She’s one of the best college basketball players to ever play. (She will) go to the WNBA and dominate there, as well. Hopefully, I never have to play her 1-on-1 because she’ll for sure be getting buckets on me.” said Mahomes of Clark.
