Meghan Markle left Kate Middleton with ‘few people to confide in’ when she quit Royal Family
The Princess of Wales will be feeling “lonely” in the Royal Family without Meghan Markle by her side, according to one royal expert.
The pair seemed to have formed an unwavering friendship when Meghan first started dating Prince Harry, with the Duchess of Sussex even turning to Princess Kate for advice on life inside the Royal Family. However, their friendship sadly wasn’t to last and they’ve become estranged in recent years.
The Sussexes risked worsening their relationship with the Prince and Princess of Wales when they released their Netflix docuseries, with Harry issuing further attacks against them in his memoir, Spare. Nevertheless, royal expert Duncan Larcombe believes Kate will still be feeling the loss of Meghan in the Royal Family.
He suggested the Princess of Wales no longer has anyone she can confide in inside The Firm. “Being in the Royal Family is a lonely place and Kate’s got very few people now, especially after the Queen’s death, who she can go to and confide in.
The fact that things didn’t work out with Meghan was a real blow, because Prince Harry’s bride would have been another person stuck in the same situation,” he told OK!. Duncan also said it’s a stark contrast to how Princess Diana and the Duchess of York would support one another.
When Meghan first joined the Royal Family, sources claimed she was told to turn to Princess Kate whenever she needed anything, adding: “She shouldn’t hesitate to get in touch.” The Princess of Wales is believed to have seen Meghan as a “breath of fresh air” for the monarchy and initially found it “wonderful” getting to know the former actress.
However, it didn’t take long for rumours of a rift between the two women to circulate. Reports emerged of a heated interaction between Meghan and Kate, just days before the Duke and Duchess of Sussex tied the knot. It was reported that Meghan had left Kate in tears after making comments about Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress.
During a dramatic interview with Oprah Winfrey three years later, Meghan sensationally claimed it was actually the other way around. Kate is said to have told Meghan there was a “problem” with her daughter Princess Charlotte’s dress. She’s then alleged to have said all of the bridesmaid dresses needed to be “completely remade.”
