Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Are ‘Entitled’ to Time Off, According to Archbishop
Lest you worry that royals never have days off, good news: As far as the Archbishop of Canterbury is concerned, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are “entitled” to time off. Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, who conducted Meghan and Harry’s wedding alongside the Dean of Windsor, David Conner, went on the record about the ins and outs of royal life.
“All members of the royal family are under a pressure that none of us outside it can possibly imagine,” Welby told the Sunday Times in a new interview. “Every personal action is scrutinized. Every statement is over-interpreted, over-read.” Welby, who has a “close personal relationship” with the couple, as the Times reports, seems to support the royal break that Meghan and Harry have in the works.
The pair has about six weeks of “family time” planned over Thanksgiving and Christmas this year, according to recent reports. “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are going to take a couple of months away from royal duties,” Welby said. “If you look at it as a job, they didn’t take the full allowance of leave that you’re entitled to; every person is entitled to
