Kate Middleton’s Diagnosis Has Left Prince Harry & Meghan Markle With ‘No Trust’ for the Royals
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were reportedly left out of Kate Middleton’s health updates just like the public was. Before Middleton revealed her shocking cancer diagnosis amid weeks of speculation about her health, sources claimed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were not being updated about their sister-in-law’s health.
According to Time Magazine, several sources have confirmed that Harry learned that his brother’s wife had been diagnosed with cancer on TV, after Kate’s moving video statement in which she revealed that she had begun “preventative chemotherapy” after cancer was discovered following her January abdominal surgery.
They are aware of everything that goes on back in England, but are being left out of any details regarding Kate,” a source told People earlier this month. “There is clearly no trust,” the added of the rift between the two couples who are reportedly not on speaking terms since the release of Harry’s memoir Spare which included scathing details about Kate and Prince William.
It speaks volumes that Harry and Meghan learnt of the diagnosis from the news. The brothers reportedly haven’t been in contact for months and trust has completely broken down,” royal historian Richard Fitzwilliams told Time.
In the past, the family has bounded together in times of tragedy, even amid the ongoing feud. Harry and Meghan were briefly reunited with the Prince and Princess of Wales after Queen Elizabeth’s 2022 death. Harry also flew to the UK for a brief meeting with his father, King Charles, after the monarch announced his cancer diagnosis in February. However, he did not see his brother that time.
Thus, Fitzwilliams notes that it is possible that Kate’s diagnosis could be the reuniting factor in the family’s frayed relationship but he is not holding his breath.
“A serious illness can change everything and bring families together. This may happen. Harry will return to see his father and perhaps the brothers will see each other,” Fitzwilliams says. “It could open the path to reconciliation in the weeks and months ahead. However, it is unlikely at the moment.”
Meghan and Harry did, however, share well wishes for Kate in a statement publicized on Friday, hours after the mom-of-three revealed her diagnosis. “We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace,” the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said in a statement. So, we’re assuming they are as supportive for Kate as the rest of are right now.
