Kate Middleton’s uncle Gary apologizes for hitting out at Meghan Markle
Kate Middleton’s uncle has apologized for slamming the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, as “fickle” in an interview with British press.
Gary Goldsmith nicknamed the ex-Suits actress “laughing girl” and claimed that she was bad for the United Kingdom. He also further added that he didn’t like the fact that Markle claimed the Royal Family had been racist towards her.
But as he was criticised for his comments, he used his niece’s cancer diagnosis as an excellent chance to get the heat off him by begging for prayers to his family and apologizing for the timing of the interview.
“As many will have seen, I am featured in Saturday’s (March 23) Times Magazine,” Goldsmith tweeted via X.com, formerly Twitter. “This interview and shoot was done over a week ago and went to print before I was aware of the sad news regarding my niece Kate.
“My thoughts and prayers are with Kate and the wider family at this difficult time and deeply upset at the timing of this article, I hope this draws a line over the continued speculation and horrible conspiracies
Let’s give Kate, William & the children time and show some love back.”
What did he say about Markle?
Markle never actually said who she felt had been racist towards her, but then Omid Scobie’s latest book, Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy’s Fight for Survival, claimed it was King Charles III and Middleton.
They are claimed to have made comments about the skin color of her child, Archie, and Goldsmith didn’t appreciate the comments even if she never named names.
“That’s why it makes me so angry about what Meghan said about Kate,” Goldsmith added. “Me and Carole [Middleton] grew up in a community as diverse as a Woolies pick’n’mix counter
All the cultures you can think of. The idea that Laughing Girl says Kate is racist makes me furious. Kate knows her family’s roots and is proud of them. I’m sorry, but Laughing Girl [Markle] is not good people.”
Middleton revealed her cancer diagnosis on March 22 and said that she is in the early stages of chemotherapy treatment as she pleaded with the public to finally allow her family some privacy after weeks of conspiracies and rumors about her health.
