LeBron James on the Verge of Eclipsing Two More Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Records
Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James (6) celebrates with NBA commissioner Adam silver and former Lakers player Kareem Abdul-Jabbar after breaking the record for all-time scoring in the NBA during the third quarter against the Oklahoma City Thunder at Crypto.com Arena.
Renowned for his nearly unstoppable skyhook (which he could execute from virtually anywhere on the court), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was one of the most innovative players in NBA history. His combined court vision and outstanding rebounding abilities made him one of the most well-rounded players of all time.
Throughout his career, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar played in 1,560 of the 1,640 possible regular season games, a record surpassed only by center Robert Parish, who played 1,611 regular season games. Abdul-Jabbar appeared in all 82 games for five seasons of his career and missed fewer than ten games in 18 seasons. He retired from the NBA in 1989 at the age of 42.
