Deadpool & Wolverine Almost Had A Different Boy Band In Its Opening Scene Deadpool & Wolverine 4 By Charlene Badasie 1 day ago
One of the most iconic scenes in Deadpool &Wolverine was the dance/fight sequence set to the NSYNC song “Bye Bye Bye,” which was a massive hit in 2000. However, a song by a different pop group was initially considered for the opening scene.
Speaking to MovieWeb, the film’s editors, Dean Zimmerman and Shane Reid said a song by the Backstreet Boys was one of the initial picks along with several other tunes. “It actually started with Kenny Rogers’ song ‘The Gambler,’ which all of our pre-vis was cut to,” Reid explained. However, Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds, and director Shawn Levy didn’t think it was the right fit. “At a certain point, the film took on a different language. The song didn’t quite work with the same energy that we wanted that scene to have.”
