Drake stirred up conversation online Sunday after posting a cryptic photo of Solange that was captured after her infamous 2014 elevator incident with Jay-Z, leading fans to wonder if there’s more going on between the two rappers.
Rumors of tension between Drake and Jay-Z aren’t new, but this latest post comes as fans speculate that the Toronto artist may be feeling some way about Jay-Z’s NFL connections and Kendrick Lamar’s upcoming Super Bowl halftime show.Shortly after the posting Solange on his Story, Drake shared a photo of the late singer Aaliyah holding a dog, further fueling online conversations as fans tried to tie the post to age-old conspircies involving the R&B icon’s relationships with figures like Jay-Z and Damon Dash.
This all comes after Drake’s comments Saturday night at Toronto’s Nostalgia party about trust and loyalty also caught attention. “People you thought were friends… might switch up… might stab you in the back,” he said, reflecting on how relationships can change over time. While he didn’t name anyone specifically, the statement has added fuel to the rumors of a possible issue between him and Jay-Z.
During the same event, Drake was seen rapping along to 50 Cent’s “Many Men,” which further fueled speculation about him airing grievances with former associates. Still, it’s unclear if this was directed at anyone in particular or just part of his performance.
