Breaking News: Drake Maye takes pressure off the Patriots by brushing off Tom Brady comparisons
New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye has tried to ease some of the pressure on himself by dismissing the comparisons to Tom Brady.
Brady is regarded as the best quarterback ever and he spent almost his entire career with the Patriots, so any quarterback who arrives at the Patriots immediately has big shoes to fill as the franchise seeks to find the next Brady
The 21-year-old Maye was the number three pick in the 2024 Draft and there are a lot of hopes being put in his ability.
Maye will not be Brady
At his recent press conference, he was quick to say that he will be trying to be himself, not Brady in the new season.
“I am not going to be Tom Brady, but will try to be Drake Maye,” he said.
Brady won seven Super Bowl rings in his career and six of these rings came with the Patriots. The 46-year-old left the team after the 2019 season and the Patriots have not won a Super Bowl since his departure
Maye is not entirely dismissive of Brady as he admits that he will be trying to learn from him at any given opportunity.
“Yeah, Tom Brady is the GOAT. You know, it’s easy to say that. He’s the best that ever played this game. I am not going to be Tom Brady. So I’m going to try to be Drake Maye, and from there, I’m just trying to learn from him. Hopefully, get to know him a little bit,” he concluded.
